Job Description
To assist existing practitioners to ensure all children attending our setting receive high quality care, are kept safe and are provided with planned and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs.
Key responsibilities:
Child Safety:
- To take all steps possible to ensure every child is safe and unharmed
Child Protection:
- Help to promote and safeguard welfare of children and staff
- Report any concerns about child protection immediately to the designated Child Protection Officer
Policies
- Follow the policies and procedures of Flying Start Nursery School
Day-to-day:
- Work as a member of the team ensuring the happiness and well-being of all children and creating harmony within the nursery
Staff:
- Maintain a good working relationship with all staff
- Provide prompt assistance and support to other rooms if requested by Head of Room or the Nursery Manager
Key Person:
- Under the Supervision of your Trainer / Room Leader / Manager:
- Be Key Person for some of the children in this age group
- Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with all Parents/Carers
- Meet the individual needs of the Key Children
- Report any concerns about the Key Children to the appropriate designated officer (eg Child Protection, SEN etc.)
Learning:
- Use the relevant Early Years Foundation Stage document when planning.
- Plan and implement activities according to the individuals’ interests that are at an appropriate and challenging level
- Regularly observe/assess children in a planned and informal manner to inform planning
Education and Social Development:
- Work as part of a team to ensure the children are achieving to the best of their ability
- To treat all children equally whether they are part of your key group or not.
Feeding and cleaning:
- Provide drinks and snacks as required for the children
- To be aware of children’s toileting needs and to act promptly to ensure that all nappies are changed promptly as required
- Ensure that all areas used by children and staff are clean and safe environments
Record Keeping:
- Keep records accurate and up to date
Resources:
- Ensure the equipment is safe for the children and any equipment requirements are passed on to the Room Leader / Nursery Manager
Marketing:
- Promote Flying Start Nursery School by ensuring the environment is one where the children enjoy being and their needs are met
At Flying Start Nursery, you will be working towards a Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship standard over the course of 15 months.
