Join our software developer apprenticeship and get a permanent job in the Civil Service, with a starting salary from £27,565 and full benefits.
As a Software Developer Apprentice you will be part of a team designing and delivering digital products and services that are used by over 20 million people in the UK, including your friends, family, neighbours and some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
Working with tools like Java, Cobol, C and Relational Databases, you’ll gain the technical expertise and industry standard qualifications to launch your digital career.
We don’t expect you to have used these tools before; we will give you all the support and training you need.

You’ll develop the following technical skills:
Work and learn with DWP, in partnership with Makers
Combine hands-on experience at DWP Digital with virtual learning including one-to-ones with tutors and dedicated skills coaches, lab tutorials and proper research projects. And meet weekly with your line manager and mentor.
Makers’ team of world class coaches has 7 years experience discovering and unlocking tech skills potential in people.
You’ll spend the first 16 weeks of the apprenticeship with Makers, diving deep into the world of software engineering and learning best practices for working in a digital team.
