Job Description

ABOUT THE SCHEME

The Group Internal Audit Apprenticeship scheme starts in September 2021 and offers challenging and fulfilling career opportunities for inquisitive, open-minded and solution-focused people.

Internal Audit is a department that plays a vital role in keeping Lloyds Banking Group safe, secure and sustainable while supporting the Group’s vision to be the best bank for customers. We are responsible for helping the Group manage the areas of the bank exposed to the highest risks, and ensure there are measures in place to mitigate those risks. Lloyds Banking Group is Britain’s largest banks and the largest provider of digital financial products in the UK so you can see the role of the auditor is an important one.

This scheme will give you significant insights into our entire business. Our central role offers a unique perspective of how Lloyds Banking Group functions as a whole, but you’ll also discover how business areas operate across the organisation. This added exposure can be a valuable stepping stone towards senior leadership positions in the future. Furthermore, Internal Audit provides you with the opportunity to interact with senior people that otherwise you wouldn’t have the opportunity to meet with and learn from.

We can ensure you’ll have the relevant support to develop the right specialist and leadership skills for a successful and impactful career.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Join us and for over four years you’ll study for a professional qualification equal to a Master’s degree and enjoy placements across different internal audit teams. You’ll learn all about performing audits to test processes, identifying gaps in those processes and help to recommend steps to ensure the highest risks are effectively managed.

Your time will be divided between studying and working in our different Audit teams:

Functional Teams: These Auditors look at how the bank works for our clients in our front-line, customer-facing business divisions; you’ll get to explore diverse areas such as Retail Banking, Insurance and Commercial Banking.

Risk Specialist Teams: These Auditors look at engine room of the organisation; the back office specialist areas that allow bank operations to work as fluidly as possible, you could find yourself anywhere from IT to HR or Finance to Credit Risk.

You will also complete a placement outside Internal Audit, where you’ll learn how other business areas work across our organisation.

We’ll support your study for a fully funded professional qualification - the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Level 4 Apprenticeship, before then moving onto the Level 7 full Chartered Internal Auditor qualification. In each of your placements, you will be aligned to the appropriate qualification stage - everything you learn will be relevant and readily applicable in your day-to-day role.

At the end of this, you’ll have a clear progression path within LBG. You’ll have a firm understanding of your strengths and career goals, making an impact on a leading financial organisation of the future.
