Salary: Year 1 from £4.50 p/h with the potential to earn up to £11.40p/h upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Job responsibilities

We have opportunities for operative apprenticeships in all areas to work as part of the Reactive or Planned Work Delivery Teams within the Network Service Alliance, specifically on clean water related projects. You’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered to technical and customer specification with a strong emphasis on meeting Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards and regulation.

Working outside as part of a small team we are looking for hardworking and committed individuals to support with the carrying out of service/mains repairs & maintenance, meter installations and the installation of new water connections in the highway. No previous experience is necessary but your enthusiasm, flexibility and ability to work as part of a team is essential.

This role will require you to work as part of a 5-day shift pattern (including a Saturday or Sunday on a rota-basis), you may also be required to undertake standby duties. Weekend working as part of the shift is compensated with a weekday off, providing flexibility and opportunity for improved work life balance for many. Enhanced pay rates for hours worked on shifts between 06:00 and 20:30.

This two-year apprenticeship consists of work experience doing a real job, gaining valuable experience and training. You will also be required to attend 12 x 2-week block releases per year to our learning partner, Bridgewater College. During the block training you will be required to attend the college daily, accommodation will be provided.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship there is the potential for a full-time position, we have a clear career path and pay structure for those that succeed and become a full-time member of the Kier team in the South West.

What do we need from you?

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals, you must be a committed, a good communicator, hard-working and reliable individual who is punctual and able to work as part of a team. It’s essential that you’re self-motivated and generally willing to help and be flexible. These roles are physically demanding and require you to work outside undertaking manual tasks throughout the year.

Minimum requirements –

GCSE English and Maths Grades A*-D / 9-3 range or equivalent

Full UK Driving License with your own transport
