Trainee Farm Trader – Newmachar
Our Farm Traders play a key role in facilitating our business by promoting Frontier’s services and products and building outstanding customer relationships. We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Farm Trader in Aberdeenshire.
We are seeking candidates with the ability, skills and desire to develop a career in a commercial sales role. A background in sales is not essential as we are looking for people with a strong interest in agriculture, coupled with experience in agricultural logistics, forwarding or another similar support function.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote, manage and develop Frontier’s business, products and services within an assigned sales area and to achieve agreed targets Sustain and develop business relationships with existing and potential customers to facilitate the growth and development of the Frontier business. Develop and support the customer in line with the Frontier Values of Integrity, Customer Focus and Expertise. Buy Grain, Oilseeds and Pulses from Farmer customers both established and new. Use business information and technical knowledge to maximise the potential of each customer. Sell seed, fertilisers and other inputs and services to farmer customers and develop new sales opportunities. Agree terms for grain storage and handling services within guidelines agreed by the Stores Manager/Commodity Trader. Coordinate the sampling and testing of commodities for purchase. Gather and feedback any market or competitor information to Managers, Commodity Traders and Product Managers. Keep up to date with competitor activity and information and report on as appropriate. Document and manage product and service problems raised by farmer customers. Prepare and agree an annual business plan for each crop year. Liaise with Frontier’s Commodity Traders/Product Managers on product availability and pricing policy. Establish a network of colleagues from within own and across relevant departments to support your work and the needs of your customer. Develop close working relationships with the Agronomists to support the needs of the customer. REQUIREMENTS

Strong commercial awareness with previous success in dealing with farmers Ability to build outstanding professional relationships with customers and colleagues Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) A high level of initiative with strong planning and organisational skills High standard of numeracy and literacy and good attention to detail Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel FACTS qualification (while not essential) would be a great advantage.
