Your Career Development
Training consist of the study of modern state of the art automotive production technology, as well as the latest innovations in manufacturing techniques. This includes: robot maintenance and programming, cutting and welding. Our core engineering training covers electronics, pneumatics, electrical, plc’s, hydraulics, welding, milling, turning, basic hand skills as well as general mechanical engineering.
This training takes place in our modern onsite apprentice academy.
The technical and maintenance teams you will be working with at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd are responsible for the rapid detection, rectification and prevention of faults within our manufacturing facilities. They also control the operation, programming and maintenance of our automated production equipment. Your final goal will be to become a productive member of these elite teams.
You will need to be enthusiastic and well-disciplined as our apprenticeship is heavily focused on attitude and behaviour. In addition, you need to exhibit initiative, be reliable and conscientious. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to think logically and to work both independently and as part of a team.
Rolls-Royce offers an enhanced apprenticeship in comparison to others in industry. The four year programme is designed to enable you to experience different aspects of Engineering and production technology including: hand-skills, machining, fluid power, electronics, welding, robotics, control systems and many more. You will then select to specialise for the remainder of the course in your ‘home’ department.
Our advisors are always available to provide individual support and guidance, enabling you to customise training to suit your skills.
In your first year you will undertake practical training to qualify you with Employers Units of Competence (L2 engineering) supported by a BTEC national certificate. Following this you will take on a level 3 NVQ competency based qualification all of which are based on engineering and maintenance systems in the business. You could have the potential to move onto the Higher National Certificate (HNC) at level 4 in engineering subject to YOUR performance and attitude.
Your career with Rolls-Royce will be designed to meet individual aspirations and the business needs of an internationally recognised company. You start on a business awareness programme followed by career objective training in the relevant departments.
• Technical and Maintenance support to Body in White (BIW) and Paintshop operations.
• A maintenance role within highly automated production facilities.
Rate of Pay
A competitive salary starting at c.£13,650 pa which will increase annually up to c.£28,000 depending on individual progress and performance.

Working Hours
40 hour working week. Apprentice start and finish times at Goodwood are 06:00 – 14:30 but may vary slightly according to work-based placements and college hours.
Qualifications and ExperienceQualifications
• A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at higher grade C or grade 4 (or above) including Maths and English.
A technology related subject or a BTEC level 3 (60 credits plus) or equivalent in a relevant Engineering or Technology discipline would be advantageous but is not essential.
When it comes to selecting the right apprentices, it’s as much about attitude and behaviours as it is about vocational and academic success. That’s why in addition to the qualifications we require from you, we’ll also look for you to have a range of skills, attributes and competencies. These include: team working, as well being able to work without close supervision; quality focus; good communication skills; the ability to show enthusiasm and initiative; and to take responsibility and be accountable for your work.
As part of your application you will need to upload one of the following:
- a copy of your most recent school report* and a CV or
- a CV and an employer reference, or
- a CV and a personal statement
We cannot progress your application without either a school report, employer reference or personal statement.
*If you are currently studying you must upload a school/college report.
You must also be able to provide proof of your legal right to work in the UK, if you are not a UK or European passport holder.
