Job Description

Lindy Lou's are looking for a confident, motivated individual to join their team on a work placement. This is an exciting opportunity as the company are looking to expand, and obtain the views/ ideas of young people within the area. 



Duties and Responsibilities:




  •  Telephone e.g. booking tables for customers

  • Greeting and seating customers

  • Assisting and advising customers on food and drink

  • Taking customer orders

  • Serving food and drink

  • Clearing and cleaning tables

  • Polishing cutlery and glasses

  • Handling cash, taking card payments and balancing a till

  • Dealing with customer complaints



This Traineeship work experience is part of an education and training programme that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core is the Work Preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high quality work experience placement.



Traineeships help unlock your great potential and give you the work preparation training, maths, English, Digital Skills and work experience needed to get an Apprenticeship or other job.

Maths skills required:




  • Adding and subtraction e.g. handling cash and till balancing

  • Estimating weight for manual handling

  • Using correct measurements for preparing drinks

  • Converting metric measures to decimal i.e. pints to litres

  • Percentages e.g. working out special offer discounts and prices



English skills required:




  • Reading e.g. menus and food ingredients

  • Writing e.g. using correct spelling and punctuation on ‘specials board’ and menus. Booking tables and updating seat planner. Writing legible, accurate orders. Accurately record allergen information 

  • Speaking to customers using company customer service protocol. Know how to deal with challenging customers. Good telephone techniques

  • Listening to customer special requests and orders



ICT/Digital Skills Required:




  • Spreadsheets or Booking Systems e.g. bookings and seat planner

  • Till and Credit Card Machine Operation e.g. taking payments



Future Prospects :

After successful completion of the Traineeship course, you will receive a certificate of completion and a letter of reference as a minimum, to support future job applications.
