Job Description

The Cabot Learning Federation is looking for a number of Apprentice Teaching Assistants to support our Primary and Secondary Teachers whilst obtaining a professional qualification.




  • If you are looking for an apprenticeship to develop your skills in working with children, then the Cabot Learning Federation could be your new and exciting workplace

  • Teaching Assistants work in Primary, Special and Secondary education across all age ranges encompassing special educational needs and emotional vulnerabilities

  • The primary role of the Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher to enhance pupils’ learning either in groups or individually, ensuring pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress

  • Promoting self-belief, social inclusion and a high self-esteem play an integral part to pupils’ well-being; ensuring pupils thrive in a positive, nurturing, safe environment. It is an active role supporting the learner to access the curriculum


Personal Qualities :

You will need:




  • Active listening skills to understand the children’s' need

  • To enjoy working with other people

  • The ability to teach pupils how to do something

  • The ability to create the best conditions for learning or teaching new things



Skills Required :

You will need:




  • Excellent verbal communication skills for motivating children to learn

  • To be flexible and open to change for working on different activities

  • To be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device

  • Some work experience or voluntary work with children is highly recommended
