Under the guidance of senior staff, to provide practical support and advice to teaching and learning in the Science curriculum.
- Ensure the maintenance of a healthy & safe working environment
- Assist in practical set up in both Science and Food Technology areas
- Assist the team-leader/senior technician with the day-to-day organisation and development of trainee staff to ensure that essential performance standards are achieved
- Contribute to the design, development and maintenance of specialist resources and/or long-term projects
- Support the senior technician/team leader technician in ensuring the availability of suitable materials and equipment, helping to compile orders and liaising or negotiating with suppliers and finance departments
- Under the (overall) guidance of the technician/team-leader technician, ensure that both routine and non-routine checking, cleaning, maintenance, calibration, testing and repairing of equipment are carried out to the required standard

- Work constructively as part of a team, understanding school roles and responsibilities and own position within these
Skills Required :
- Good numeracy/literacy skills
- The ability to support pupils and staff
- Effective use of ICT and specialist equipment/resources
- Full working knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
- Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety issues, particularly COSHH
