Job Description

Key accountabilities:




  • Commit to completing a 22-month Apprenticeship (Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer)

  • Plan, Co-ordinate and deliver football participation programmes for females studying at further education institutions (inclusion of Further Education, Higher Education and adult learners where relevant) as well as prospective further education students studying in years 9 – 11

  • Continue to develop good working partnerships with primary schools in a capacity that involves increasing female football participation for young females. This includes the planning, co-ordination and delivery of an annual Key Stage 2 Female Football tournament

  • Support the planning, organisation and provision of training sessions delivered as part of the Hartpury Women’s Football Academy programme

  • Consult with students to understand their movements to enable you to;

    •  Engage and retain new female players in regular football activity

    • Engage and retain new female coaches  to support the game

    • Engage students of BAME backgrounds.

    • Provide opportunities that are inclusive and cater to the needs of students with disabilities



  • Work with the County Football Association and develop partnerships with grassroots clubs to create opportunity for students to transition into local playing and/or volunteering opportunities

  • Lead and drive activities that will capitalise on the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 hosted in England to leave a legacy that will inspire females to engage in football

  • Actively participate in a national network of Women’s Football Apprentices and positively engage and contribute to learning and development opportunities

  • Complete administrative duties to support the efficient running of programmes/projects and robust monitoring and evaluation to ensure impact is understood and insight captured

  • Complete continued professional development (e.g. FA Level 2 Coaching, Mental Health First Aid Training) and goal setting, as well as commit to activities that will develop (personal and professional) skills/knowledge/behaviours to enhance employability prospects

  • Seek out opportunities to act as a spokesperson for women and girls’ football and consistently behave as a positive role model representing your college, AoC Sport and The FA

  • Undertake any other Women’s Football Development duties as may be reasonably required



Your standard working week will involve undertaking your job role for a total of 30 hours per week. The remaining 7.5 hours per week is ring-fenced for you to complete work associated with your L3 Community Sport & Health Officer Qualification. Working with your line manager the successful applicant will devise their own timetable to demonstrate the best pattern that works for them and Hartpury.



There is the expectation that some evening/ weekend work will be required and, communicating this with your line manager, your working week will be adapted to accommodate this when required.

Skills Required :

  • Understanding of sport/football development

  • Basic understanding of The FA Women’s Football Strategy

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Further Education sector deriving from significant time spent studying within a sixth form/college

  • Basic use of Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as social media skills

  • Experience of mentoring/coaching

  • Knowledge of equality and diversity relating to the sporting provision



Future Prospects :

It is anticipated that this role will work with the coaching and development team within Hartpury’s Women’s Football Academy. Shadowing and at times supporting with the recruitment of players through developing a smooth transitional pathway of playing opportunities (recreational through to performance). It is anticipated that upon completion of the Apprenticeship qualification the candidate will progress into a Women’s Football Academy assistant role.
