Job Description

The following is an outline of the range of duties that can be expected during the Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.




  • Provide 10 hours per week of cover supervision

  • Work with and under the supervision of qualified teachers

  • Help facilitate the learning process

  • Be responsible for supporting the learning of manageable groups or individual children

  • Be involved in the planning and preparation process of the work undertaken by the children

  • Feed back to the teacher responsible, information relating to the work undertaken in supporting learning

  • Assist with the development, maintenance and the use of resources

  • Assist with the development of the learning environment

  • Assist in the monitoring and assessment of children’s learning and / or behaviour, liaising with parents and outside agencies when required

  • Attend to children’s general welfare and personal needs, as determined by school policies and procedures

  • Assist in the supervision of children and the application of basic first aid during the morning break

  • Participate in training which is supportive of the role



This role will be within the PE Department but successful applicants will be required to cover lessons in different subject areas and help support the learning and development of students in all aspects.

Personal Qualities :

  • Team player, patience, punctuality, confidentiality and reliability is essential

  • A strong work ethic will need to be demonstrated

     



Skills Required :

  • Good Numeracy and Literacy standards need to be demonstrated and a a real interest in working with children

  • Must have good communication skills and be able to work well with both adults and children

  • Must be able to work well in a team and individually

  • A driving licence would be preferred but not essential
