Job Description

The role will include:



  • Working one to one with high needs students

  • Supervising and facilitating learning activities, including small group work, under the supervision of the class teacher, HLTA or SENCO

  • Assisting in specific areas, to support development of speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, literacy, handwriting/presentation and any other general SEN need

  • Liaising with class teacher, SENCO and other professionals about individual’s education needs

  • Helping to research and make appropriate resources to support learning

  • Monitor student responses to learning activities and, where appropriate, modify or adapt the activities to achieve the intended learning outcomes with support of the class teacher/SENCO

  • To prepare work and activities in advance of the lesson e.g. photocopying, laminating, making learning resources under the direction of the SENCo, class teacher or HTLA

  • To be willing to support playground/break time supervision e.g. educational games, homework clubs etc.

  • To maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information

  • To promote and ensure the safeguarding and welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact

  • In addition, the job holder will be expected to carry out any other duties commensurate with the post as may be reasonably required by the SENCo or Headteacher

Future Prospects :

Prospect of progression to a higher level apprenticeship qualification and to progress within the business. Prospect of a permanent position for the right candidate on completion of the Apprenticeship.
