Job Description

Being a Resident Companion at Care UK

Resident Companions at Care UK come from all walks of life. Some will have worked in factories, supermarkets or schools. Some are returning to work after a break or a relative to a Resident. Many have no, or minimal, experience, but are keen to explore a career in care, while many already have invaluable experience. What they all have in common is the right values. They’re adaptable, friendly, polite and caring. They enjoy working as a team with people from different cultures and backgrounds. And, they consider it a privilege to be trusted to look after others. Do you share their values? Then we could have just the role for you.

What you’ll be doing

Being a ‘Resident Companion’ doesn’t just mean helping residents to remain as active and independent as possible while respecting their rights of choice, privacy and dignity. It means having fun and laughter with them and listening to their stories of a past life, keeping them upbeat throughout the day. And, it means working flexibly to help them explore new interests, engage in physical exercise and activities and make sure they enjoy themselves in a stimulating and homely environment. Put simply, it means making a difference. A real difference and really stepping into that ‘Companion’ role whilst relatives aren’t around to visit.

What you’ll need

A genuine passion for caring for others, you may have looked after an elderly relative or friend before. More important though is your kind-hearted nature, your belief in teamwork and your ability to use your initiative and imagination, follow instructions and bring a smile to the residents at Care Uk. You’ll be comfortable talking to, and working with, people from different professions and above all, you will have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding.

At Pinetum we'll lay on a warm welcome for residents, friends and family.

Pinetum is a modern and comfortable purpose-built home located within the grounds of the Countess of Chester Hospital. We provide nursing, residential, respite and day care for older people, including individuals who are living with early stages of Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. We also offer specialist care for adults with complex care needs such as brain and spinal injury.

Our team enjoys getting to know each person as an individual and creating personalised care plans that encourage people to live as independently and actively as possible. In our complex care suite, our highly skilled nursing, therapy and care teams provide around-the-clock intensive care and support patients to lead fulfilling lives.

As well as residential care, we provide flexible care for older people who need some additional support during the daytime. We treat residents and day guests as family members and always aim to go that extra mile, for example by arranging special experiences and outings. And the home has a very friendly and sociable atmosphere – we always have a big welcome waiting for families, friends and any other visitors.
