Job Description

Role Responsibilities:



Surface Water Management:




  • Manage and monitor surface water management (SWM) inbox

  • Liaise with Engineers regarding applications and applicant queries

  • Organise pre-app meetings and raise payments

  • Respond to applicants, developers and local planning authorities

  • Answer general queries over the phone

  • Utilise DEF for logging applications and consultations



Team Support:




  • Answer the phone and respond to emails on general enquiries

  • Organise team meetings and events

  • Complete Historic Flood Information requests

  • Ad hoc support for flood alleviation scheme administration

  • Communication – videos, leaflets, web and process document updates

  • Other support tasks as required by the team 



Flood Investigations:




  • Receive and log flooding reports and enquiries into our Confirm database

  • Assess which reports need further investigation or site visits

  • Undertake site investigations and report writing

  • Undertake and compile desk-based studies for building investigation cases (GIS, Land Registry)

  • Communicate with members of the public and internal and external bodies



Additional Information:



As part of this role you will be involved in:




  • Desk and site-based flood investigations

  • Liaison with members of the public and internal and external colleagues

  • Project administration 

  • Consideration of differing technical designs 

  • Solving problems 

  • Writing reports 

  • Taking part in meetings discussing how a scheme should progress 

  • Collating information in Microsoft Excel

Skills Required :

  • Good communication skills, including telephone manner and written presentation

  • Good IT skills

  • Must be able to fulfil travel requirements of the role

  • Positive approach to continuing development and willing to undertake training

  • Relevant office experience

  • Desire for potential for future career with Hampshire County Council 

  • Experience creating documents for a range of stakeholders
