Job Description

A wonderful opportunity has become available to become one of the team at So Schools Out and work with children at one of their locations at St Peters Church of England Primary Academy, Easton.



Safeguarding:




  • Understand and adhere to the setting’s safeguarding policies

  • Follow all procedures to keep children safe

  • Report safeguarding concerns about any adult working in the setting to the Manager

  • Update safeguarding and child protection knowledge annually and attend formal training every 3 years



Positive relationships:




  • Work under the direction of your Manager in a positive and respectful manner

  • Show a positive work ethic by being ready to start work, meetings and training on time with the correct clothes and equipment

  • Smile and talk to the children, adults and your colleagues. Be helpful and do extra

  • Show your positivity about childcare in your body language, attitude and energy

  • Be coachable; listen to instructions, ask questions and give it a go



Childcare & Education:




  • Support the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional (SPICE) needs of all children attending the setting through considered planning of the environment and activities provided

  • Observe, extend and support children’s learning

  • Respect the confidentiality of children and their families

  • Maintain accurate and effective children’s records

  • Work in partnership with outside agencies, childcare professionals and Ofsted.

  • Demonstrate good practice in supporting children with additional needs and inclusion

  • Learn about developments in early years childcare, education and Playwork



Operational:




  • Ensure all policies and procedures for the day-to-day running of the setting are adhered to, including all record keeping

  • Work with other colleagues as a team to ensure the highest standards of care and education are provided for all children attending the setting

  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to day-to-day duties to ensure smooth running and operation of the setting

  • Assist the Manager during inspections and to assist in implementing any recommendations given by any regulatory body



Learning & Development:




  • Attend staff meetings and engage in self-development appraisals and supervisions

  • Demonstrate a willingness to attend training and to take opportunities for continuous professional development


Personal Qualities :

  • Enthusiasm in providing the highest quality of care and education

  • Ability to maintain emotional resilience when working with challenging behaviour

  • Demonstrate respect for appropriate boundaries and authority



Skills Required :

  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues

Future Prospects :

The successful apprentice may be considered for a full-time role based on performance during the apprenticeship.
