Job Description

What is Tax at EY?

With clients that range from aspiring entrepreneurs to the UK's leading financial institutions, we support our clients’ by helping them navigate the complex and ever changing demands of UK tax legislation.

What will you be doing?

Developing your understanding of UK taxation rules is at the heart of this apprenticeship. After an EY induction you’ll join your team in Financial Services (FS) where you will specialise in a particular area of Personal Tax. You’ll be:

  • Specialising in Personal Tax within Financial Services
  • Helping to deliver personal tax compliance and/or advisory services as part of a team
  • Building important relationships with clients and senior stakeholders

Wherever you’re based, you’ll be learning on-the-job, have access to coaching and training opportunities and lots of support from your team, too. In your first year you’ll also begin working towards your professional qualifications. All FS Personal Tax apprentices will study towards the Association of Taxation Technicians professional qualification with a potential further option to complete the Chartered Tax Advisor qualification. Over the course of the apprenticeship you’ll build invaluable business skills and knowledge that will ready you for a brilliant career, wherever you set your sights.

Entry requirements

You’ll need a minimum of Level 2/GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language & Maths and to have completed three A-Levels, five Scottish Highers or equivalent by the time the programme starts.

“The variety of work is what makes my job enjoyable. I love looking into a problem and having to find out all the facts and then working through to a solution; sometimes you feel like you’re doing a lot of detective work!” Jenni, Personal Tax Centre Apprenticeship, Exeter
