Job Description

What will the apprentice be doing? 



You will be working with experienced trades people on sites and contributing to our production from day 1, building 5-star quality homes for our customers. You’ll always have a senior mentor from the business who will help you with your learning and offer you career advice from someone who has been on the same journey.



Learning many skills including:




  • Preparing and fixing building components, from the initial erection of a new building

  • Installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings

  • Repair and maintenance activities

  • Health & Safety on site and work with an experienced mentor who will support your learning



Key responsibilities:




  • Calculate quality, length, area and wastage of resources

  • Maintain and repair building components

  • Work safely at height

  • Use, maintain and store hand and power tools



What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end? 



On site you will be working with experienced trades people and learning from the best. In college you will learn new skills and spend plenty of time putting them in to practice in a safe environment, ready for when you return to site. This is an intensive course and is focussed on developing your knowledge and practical skills. You will work towards your functional skills English and maths if required and at the end of your qualification you will have gained your Level 2 qualification.



What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship? 



You’re going to have great options once you’re finished. You could progress to the advanced apprenticeship or work for one of our sub-contractors, set yourself up as self-employed or in some areas of the country work for us permanently as a qualified tradesperson. Some apprentices carry on training once they have completed their advanced apprenticeship and progress through our Assistant Site Manager Programme or go on to do one of our Sponsored Degree Programmes.



We pay BATJIC rates which vary by age, starting rates are from £10,700 to £ 16,670 reviewed in June.
