Job Description

Job Purpose:



To support staff to meet the academic, pastoral and other needs of students by improving the quality of teaching and learning, thereby helping all students to achieve their full potential by ensuring the availability of fully operational curriculum IT network throughout the college.



Main duties and responsibilities:



Support:




  • Provide technical support and guidance to assist staff and students to understand programs, to resolve problems and generally support them in using software and hardware to ensure that students are able to maximise use of available I.T. equipment and systems, thereby maximising their understanding of a range of learning opportunities and the quality of work

  • Provide in-class technical support for staff using ICT in the classroom

  • Provide technical support for staff training and interviews

  • Assist staff and students to access network resources

  • Support as required the general public/CMAT visitors connecting to our WIFI system and basic computing queries

  • Assist with setting up and supporting exam classes e.g. lucid software requiring headphones and USB sound cards



System Maintenance:




  • Assist in fault finding within the network infrastructure

  • Maintain and fault find all computers and laptops around the college

  • To carry out basic repairs (with guidance) to hardware not covered by ‘warranties’ and within their own ability, to arrange other repairs, to ensure maximum availability and cost effectiveness of all I.T. equipment in college

  • Install, maintain and upgrade software and hardware to enable all students and staff to make full use of all available I.T. equipment and systems

  • Maintain integrity of software by re-installation as deemed necessary by the ICT Network Manager

  • Assist in encrypting computer laptops, desktops, memory pens and portable hard drives/SSD’s and keep a record of these

  • Assist with Virus/Spyware removal from machines or rebuild stations as required

  • Replace projector lamps, clean filters as required (step ladder training will be given, face mask and eye protection also given)

  • Replace toner cartridges, waste toner bottles and dispose of these in the schools WEEE bins



General:




  • Use and help staff with school booking system to allocate ICT rooms as required

  • Setup and maintain new computers and laptops

  • Maintain a stock of parts needed for minor repairs 

  • Assist with PAT testing as instructed by the PAT testing coordinator or your line manager

  • Make minor repairs if and when necessary

  • Maintain classroom resources

  • Help maintain the ICT Inventory, as instructed by the coordinator and your line manager

  • To undertake relevant equipment installation and equipment setups throughout the college, for example the hall and gym act of worship laptop, projector screen, projector and sound setup

  • Any other duties as maybe reasonably required by the Head teacher, Operation Manager, Line Manager

  • Observe and act up on the data protection and GDPR regulations

  • Help move the delivery of paper to the ICT rooms

  • Help move paper from the reprographics room to the staff room for use with the staff photocopiers

  • Look out for and report to the ICT Manager any health and safety concerns and take any action if required to put these things right

  • Setup, reconnect visualiser connections has required

  • Assisting in keeping a record of a loan of I.T. equipment list

  • Using the “Every” Software (Job logging System) to update job records regarding completion, solution and what is required



This position may involve working at height (step ladders), training will be provided.
