Job Description

The apprentice will:




  • Support the day to day organisation of the community safety team and community safety partnership, including general administration duties - keeping records, filing, data input, dealing with telephone enquiries and arranging meetings

  • Develop positive relationships with customers, including supporting officers and rent collection, the repairs process and other customer facing duties

  • Take control of a range of administrative tasks aimed at supporting and maintaining information systems

  • Maintain and administer records and filing systems

  • Input, update and retrieve information stored within the community safety team management information system (Flare)

  • Speak to new customers via the telephone

  • Record details of incidents and send out diary sheets where appropriate

  • Contact customers about their experiences and record feedback

  • Attend and take part in team meetings and team development sessions as required

  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing personal skills in accordance with the apprenticeship framework

  • Complete assignments/projects which relate to the apprenticeship framework meeting target dates as required


Personal Qualities :

  • An enthusiastic and flexible approach to the duties of the post

  • Be able to work independently or as part of a team

  • Competent in the use of a computer, including word processing, Excel and email

  • A mature can do attitude



Skills Required :

  • Previous experience of working in a busy office environment

  • Able to prepare agendas and complete minutes of meetings

  • Able to use data, Excel and able to demonstrate competent IT skills

  • Knowledge of current issues in respect of crime and anti-social behaviour

  • Good communication and presentation skills



Future Prospects :

On completion of the apprenticeship the candidate could apply and be suitable for vacancies with Middlesbrough Council or external employers.
