Job Description

Key responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Assisting the Head of HR in handling day-to-day HR queries and providing HR advice

  • Using HR systems to keep records

  • To assist in providing the business with relevant HR information

  • Working with the Head of HR on implementing HR changes

  • Managing sensitive and confidential personnel matters and protecting the security of information, data and files

  • To ensure confidentiality of sensitive information/documentation at all times

  • To assist in coordinating the recruitment process including dealing with recruitment agencies, managing applications and associated communication, setting up interviews and recording all CV’s received

  • To help prepare contracts of employment offer letters, inductions and assist in setting up initial training for new staff

  • To assist in coordinating the preparation for staff leaving the firm, to include ensuring standard housekeeping procedures have been adhered to and all relevant members of staff have completed their element of the leaving procedure

  • To assist the Head of HR with reporting and statistics such as equality and diversity, training, absence and similar statistics

  • To assist in preparation for Investors in People accreditation and Lexcel

  • Maintaining accurate HR records which will include holiday and absence records, electronic personnel files, training bookings and evaluation, maternity and paternity data, performance reviews and employee details in SAS Protect

  • To assist the firms Health & Safety Officer in line with H&S legislation and in accordance with the firm’s policies in the Office Manual. To assist in undertaking annual risk reviews as required under Lexcel

  • To manage and arrange regular training sessions for those involved in fire drills and first aid procedures

  • To undertake training when required and have a responsibility towards self-development

  • Attendance at team meetings when required

  • To handle matters in accordance with procedures outlined in the Office Manual and Employee Handbook and to produce a high standard of work

  • Gain and maintain IT and telephony skills appropriate to modern legal practice; specifically, the systems and facilities used by the firm
