Job Description

You will be provided with the chance to “earn and learn” in a brand new setting for 2-3 year olds within a community driven primary school. You will be given the opportunity to gain and develop new skills and experiences, whilst working towards a Level 2 qualification in a Childcare Intermediate Apprenticeship for Children and Young People’s Workforce. 



Duties will include:




  • To work towards and achieve qualifications in Childcare

  • To be a part of a team and support other staff

  • Assist on trips and setting up/clearing away activities

  • To engage in effective and positive communication with the children, parents and colleagues

  • To be familiar with all emergency and security procedures, routines for dropping off and collecting children etc.

  • To supervise the children at play (indoor and outdoor)

  • To ensure that the provision of childcare meets the needs of the individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development

  • To promote and work to Health and Safety standards and upkeep hygiene and cleanliness standards at all times

  • To provide and promote a high standard of Childcare

  • To attend staff meetings as requested

  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities common to the position, properly directed by the line manager


Personal Qualities :

  • You must be well presented and reliable

  • Successful candidates will have a lot of patience, have a caring approach and be understanding



Skills Required :

We are looking for applications from individuals who have the following skills:




  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • You need to show the ability to develop excellent communication and relationships with children, parents and colleagues

  • You must have good time management skills. You must be a punctual person and be on time for work



Future Prospects :

Achievement of this pathway will enable apprentices to go onto study towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard and access higher level jobs within the sector.
