Managing and supplying data and reporting, providing analysis and advice, cutting risk, optimising Efficiency and driving the company forward: it’s all in a day’s work for our Finance team. They are a key part of Royal Mail and we need keen and bright individuals to help us continue to drive process improvements, support the business and deliver results.

Programme Overview

  • Three to four year programme (depending on AAT exemptions) based in Chesterfield or Bolton
  • £13,500 per year starting salary with pay increases on achievement of AAT qualifications
  • £19,000 on passing AAT Level 3 exams
  • Minimum salary £25,579 per year on completion, plus benefits
  • Leads to Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualifications Levels 2, 3 and 4
  • Includes a series of project placements
  • Requirement: Five GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at grade C/4 or higher required

About the programme

On the programme, you’ll learn about all aspects of managing Royal Mail’s ‘finances’. From accounts receivable to accounts payable, to data and reporting, you’ll gain a broad range of experience at a FTSE 100 organisation while you study towards the industry-recognised AAT qualifications. We’ll give you the opportunities to put that theory into practice. It’s the perfect start to a career in finance.

You could be working with the award-winning Accounts Receivable team, interacting directly with customers in the Accounts Payable team, or be dealing with vendors on a variety of payment processes.

You could also be delivering results through data management, external and internal reporting, including Board reporting and management information to support the business in delivering results. Wherever you are, your work will be varied, challenging and will have a real impact on what we do. We will give you the theoretical and practical foundation for a successful career.

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need to be an expert before you join us. We’re looking for talented, motivated people who want to develop into successful financial professionals. You will have some analytical and communication skills and a natural business sense that we will help turn into valuable professional skills.

If you’re looking for variety, challenge and that combination of theory and hands-on work then this is the programme for you. You’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or higher, including Maths and English.
