Job Description
Work effectively abiding to Ofsted and Early Years Foundation stage standards.
- Read, understand and keep up to date with the setting policies to maintain standard
- Work effectively in a team and strive to maintain positive relationships to support each other during nursery hours
- To be involved in out of working hour’s activities, e.g. training-first aid/food hygiene, staff meetings, fundraising/work events
- To be flexible within working practices of the Setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the Setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.
- To be a flexible practitioner when working with children, being able to adjust practice for differing needs and abilities. Expect changes to occur and adapt effectively
- Look upon the setting as a “whole”, adapting practice to utilise your time and support with children, ensuring you are constantly aware of the needs of children
- Prepare, set out and complete activities to suit the child's stage of development referring to planned activities and use pedagogic strategies when supporting children to take part in such activity
- Enhance opportunities for children by tailoring it to promote further learning
- Help guide unplanned experiences that are led by children, this may include providing extra resources, add new language etc.
- To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing
- Supporting children to carry out health and hygiene routines by washing and changing children as required-nappy changing
- Providing comfort and warmth to all children and especially when they are feeling unsettled
