Job Description
An award-winning business are looking to recruit a part-time Payroll Clerk to join their busy Manchester City Centre based offices. Responsible for collating all payroll-related internal information to be submitted to an external payroll provider, you will be the in-house subject matter expert for all payroll-related queries.
This position is on a part-time basis, comprised of circa. 20 hours per week. The days on which these hours are worked can be relatively flexible.
As a Payroll Clerk, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
- Preparing pay reports to submit to the external payroll provider
- Answering any payroll related queries
- Resolving any payroll differences by investigating and analysing information to identify any differences in timesheet and payroll records
- Processing of payroll deductions (including administering childcare vouchers and any other salary sacrifice scheme deductions)
- Calculate colleague take-home pay
- Tax and National Insurance calculations
- Completing pension schedules and uploading pension data
- Preparing P14/ P60s, P45, P11D and New Starters
- Reconcile payroll reports provided by our payroll provider for record-keeping purposes and managerial review
- Review absence reports
- Managing and tracking maternity, paternity, sickness payments
- To assist with the administration for new starters and leavers, preparation of job descriptions, job adverts, contracts, induction and other related paperwork and tasks
As a Payroll Clerk, you will have/be:
- Previous experience working in a busy payroll department - including an understanding of tax procedures and pension regulations, familiarity with benefits and other wage deductions
- IT literate, including intermediate capability with MS Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables etc.)
- Able to work to strict deadlines
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people professionally
- Capable of working independently
- Able to work with discretion and confidentiality
