Job Description

Part-Time Payroll Officer, NFP organisation, Letchworth, 18.5 hrs, job share, Mon-Wed or Wed-Fri, £31K pro rata, excellent benefits including great team culture, fabulous, recently refurbished office environment, one day remote working if required, 27 days holiday plus bank hols pro rata, pension, and healthcare cash plan. The Role
Reporting to the HR Manager, to be responsible for the administration of all aspects of all payroll data. Processing monthly payroll in an accurate and timely manner. Collecting, calculating and entering data to maintain and update payroll information. Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions and generating all payroll related reports. To be responsible for all submissions to HMRC. Being basically brilliant in your job means driving best practice and ensuring compliance with organisation policies and procedures and employment legislation to provide a high-quality service.

Making it happen!
The Payroll Officer will:

•To be responsible for the preparation and processing of salaries for all employees and the Board.
•To deal with matters relating to payroll as per procedures e.g expense and mileage claims, enter PAYE, NI and pension information.
•Prepare all payroll submissions to HMRC and pension providers on time.
•Act as the payroll expert and provide updates on new rules and regulations.
•Prepare BACs payment for checking by Senior Finance team managers.
•Monitor of all statutory pay.
•Process of buying and selling of annual leave.
•Notify colleagues of changes in regulations and rates e.g. changes in pension rates or NI rates, Tax codes.
•To collate starter, leaver and other employee information pertinent to payroll to ensure it is run accurately.
•To be proactive in identifying and resolving any issues that arise with payroll, adopting a thorough and problem-solving approach.
•Comply fully with and keep up to date with payroll legislation and reporting requirements
•Ensure data integrity on systems and to build and maintain a robust process for data control.
•Continuously improve the payroll software.
•Year-end processing including producing P60s and P11Ds
•Be the point of contact with their internal and external auditors as well as tax advisors for all payroll matters.

A basic must!
Able to:

•In-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculations and processing.
•Strong mathematical and numeracy skills.
•CIPP certification or equivalent.
•Experience of payroll and HMRC requirements.
•Experience of using iTrent and functionality of the system.
•Understand and manipulate numerical and statistical data.

Terms
This permanent, part-time Payroll Officer job share is being offered for 18.5 hours and they envisage it being for 2.5 days, either Mon-Wed or Wed-Fri. They have recently refurbished their office which now provides an excellent open plan working space. They can also offer one day working remotely from home if desired. The salary is £31k pro rata and excellent benefits include 27 days holiday/year (pro-rata) public holidays, stakeholder pension scheme, life assurance and a health care cash plan. They work a 37 hour week so the actual salary for 18.5 hours would be £15,500. Further well-being benefits are being added in the autumn so clearly an organisation which values and invests in its staff!
