Job Title: Trainee Schedule and Dispatch Engineer
Location: Perth
Salary: SSE7 £35,147 - £46,418 depending on skills and experience excellent benefits annual bonus

The Role
As Trainee Schedule and Dispatch Engineer, you'll help manage and maintain the safe and efficient operation of the SSE Renewables Hydro Generation fleet in accordance with all Operational and Generation System safety rules and Company practices and procedures, whilst remaining compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Some of your other main accountabilities will include;
-Managing generation output, effectively maximising value and minimising loss for the business.
-Water management and ensuring compliance with flood control procedures and adherence to the Controlled Activities Regulation Licences (CAR) across our Hydro
-Ensure that all operations, decision making and actions relating to the day to day operating of the renewables generation fleet has no detrimental effect on People, the Environment, Assets or Reputation (PEAR) of SSE.
-Monitoring of real time data to manage alarm events ensuring that each alarm is understood and responded to, retaining asset integrity and safe, effective plant operation.
-Produce a strategic operating schedule for our hydro generators
-Ensure compliance with the Grid Code and to maximise revenue earning potential.
-Act as the control point for all interactions with National Grid as required under the Grid Code.
-Dispatch power from hydro generators in accordance changing situations such as weather events, plant breakdown, network reconfiguration, failure or disruption.
Training and progression opportunities will be provided through combination of in-house training and assessment in accordance with the relevant safety rules as outlined.
Subject to satisfactory progress and additional training you will have the opportunities to progress through the various roles within the Renewables Operations Centre (ROC)
Your Skills and experience
We are looking for someone who is educated to a minimum of HNC level in an engineering or science discipline with relevant experience.
Strong IT skills and a genuine passion and knowledge for the industry will be essential, as will a high attention to detail, self-motivation and the ability to manage your own workloads. Knowledge and understanding of the SSE Hydro scheme and Hydro Power Station plant characteristics would be advantageous, as would an understanding of the Energy market and Balancing mechanism.
More importantly, flexibility will be critical for this role and you should be prepared to work shifts that meet the 24/7 operational requirements.
