Job Description

Purpose of the role: Provide dedicated project support across multiple projects. Checking the feasibility, budgets and resources required for each project, setting goals, objectives, defining roles and producing schedules and timelines for tasks, identify and manage risks, coordinate the project team to keep them on track, keeping the project on budget, track progress of projects and feed this back to the organisation.



The adult improvement programme is a three-year programme focused on wholescale improvement of adult social care. The programme is focused around four projects:




  • Enabling risk management and promoting person centred outcomes (keeping services safe through periods of change)

  • Supporting lives connecting people (changing the way that social workers and occupational therapy teams work with customers)

  • Building a workforce for the future (strengthening the internal and external adult social care workforce offer)

  • System, performance management and business insight (changing the back-office systems and process to deliver the new operating model)



Working as part of a small improvement team the Improvement Manager will provide dedicated project support for individual projects and across the programme more

  • The ability to meet priorities, meet deadlines and use your initiative to get things done

  • Ability to work as a team to deliver a service

  • Attention to detail and ability to apply a logical approach

  • Ability to produce a range of written reports, guidance, business process maps, communication plans, highlight reports and other project planning documents and other outputs as required

  • Ability to support the management of project and programme risk through effective management of risk logs, accountability and escalation

  • Applying knowledge gained on the job and through your Apprenticeship to support us in achieving our business objectives

  • Using your initiative to respond independently to unexpected problems/situations and meet deadlines determined by your working arrangements or set by your manager

  • Working with a range of colleagues to widen your experience, as availability allows, and meet the requirements of the service

  • Participating in meetings and briefings as directed by your manager making an appropriate contribution

  • Completing all learning commitments in support of your apprenticeship programme

  • Demonstrating our core Values and working in an empowered, collaborative, agile and innovative way to make a real and positive difference for all our communities

  • Ability to solve complex problems

  • Confidence to lead small working groups and task and finish work streams

  • Ability to handle conflict and challenge in a calm and structured approach

Skills Required :

  • Great communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Good administration skills and confidence in relation to managing and understanding a range of IT systems

Experience and qualifications to work as a Project Manager.
