We have an exciting opportunity for students to earn a degree whilst developing their professional skills within a global market leading organisation. The program is suitable for students who are interested in entering management positions and want to build their capability to successfully manage people, projects, operations and/or services.

Students will learn the technical knowledge, gain real experience and wider skills through a range of structured placements across a variety of DHL customer contracts and locations within the UK. This is a unique opportunity for students to gain a business degree within an apprenticeship whilst earning in the workplace.

For the role of Transport Apprentice the key Responsibilities will include:

* Providing cover for the operation of the front desk role inclusive of briefing and de-briefing drivers, vehicle defect reporting, tachograph issue etc.
* Planning function including the allocate work to appropriate vehicles and drivers, maximising earnings whilst operating within legal limits at all time and giving first class customer service
* Man management of driver colleagues including day to day work allocation, sickness and dispute management and disciplinary investigations
* Providing cover for the management of transport compliance inclusive of drivers hours, vehicle and trailer maintenance, health and safety etc

Key skills and experience in this role will include:

(Standard University entry criteria applies)
260 UCAS points (104 UCAS points from September 2017 under the new UCAS tariff system) grade C GCSE English and Mathematics or;
Completion of a Level 3 Apprenticeship/professional qualification in a relevant discipline or;
Recognised and equivalent qualification
Passion and motivation to start and develop a career within the Supply Chain & Logistics industry in the UK market post-academia
Flexible in approach to working styles, shifts and roles
Eligibility to work in the UK for the full duration of the apprenticeship
Confident communicator - able to tailor communication style according to the audience
Enthusiastic and open-minded in getting the most out of the apprenticeship
Sensitive to diverse working teams and environments

Apprenticeship qualification:

During the 4 year apprenticeship, you will work towards achieving a Level 6 Chartered Manager Degree Level qualification. In your first three years, you will experience a range of structured placements across our warehouse, transport and functional operations giving you the opportunity to gain real life experience! In your final year, you will specialise in your preferred area, whilst completing your end point assessment.

You will be allocated a Mentor and a Learner Manager from The Apprenticeship Training Provider who will be a subject matter expert in the field of the Apprenticeship you will be under taking.
