Job Description

We are currently seeking a Transport Operations Apprentice, to assist with arranging transport movements, based at our Tilbury Site.

As well as gaining a wide variety of knowledge within the Transport team you will be placed on a Transport Planning Technician Apprenticeship (Level 3). The apprenticeship will last around 36 months. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be promoted to a Junior role with the opportunity to continue to grow and develop within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in contractor Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) which are recorded and reviewed regularly by all staff and are made available to discuss with clients and suppliers.
  • Ensuring all contractors comply with our company policies and make sure we have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with all transport contractors.
  • Protecting the interests of the business at all times and escalate any areas of concern to the Senior Transport Manager
  • Ensuring that the services are always making a profit and report any losses or suspicious behaviour to the Senior Transport Manager.
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of all inbound and outbound cargo through own and remote facilities daily, ensuring all work is completed and all discrepancies are managed and reported.
  • Resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously and efficiently.
  • Communicating all delays and issues with the Transport Manager and Transport team.
  • Working closely and effectively with the Domestic Transport Traffic team, ensuring that all planned work is completed, on time and as requested by clients.

  • This apprenticeship will offer understanding into organisational processes, practical knowledge within a business setting and will help you to manage your personal performance and progression.
  • The duration of this apprenticeship is approximately 36 months.
  • A Junior position will be available at the end of the apprenticeship.
