Job Description

To assist and gain knowledge in all areas of the Portbury parts operations. Training in but not limited to, Goods In, parts storage, parts identification, parts ordering via manufacturers systems, parts issuing, and stock check procedures and reporting.



Experience will also be gained in ISO and Health and Safety policy and procedures



The successful candidate:




  • Reports directly to the Parts Supervisor on a daily basis

  • Regular review meetings with the Parts Manager and Depot Manager  

  • Be active in the companies ISO requirements for both Health & Safety and Environmental as needed.

  • Operate from any of the sites under the Parts Managers jurisdiction as required



Duties and Responsibilities:



Goods In/Parts Storage & Housekeeping




  • To ensure all goods are checking in and matched with delivery notes in a timely manner, reporting any discrepancies

  • Check received goods for damaged and report to Parts Supervisor

  • Ensure goods are located within the Parts Department in an efficient way

  • Keeping the area you are working in clean and tidy

  • System receipting of parts onto the BCA system



Parts Identification




  • Identify parts required using the relevant manufacturers system

  • Source parts and prices for non-OEM requirements

  • Source goods and prices for other areas of the business as required



Parts Ordering




  • Raising purchase order (once appropriate)

  • Ordering parts as required via the manufactures approved ordering method

  • Ordering non-OEM parts with supplier as required

  • Ordering goods for other areas of the business



Parts Issuing




  • Issuing parts and goods physically via the parts counter

  • Issuing parts via the BCA system using the correct method



Stock Check Procedures




  • Understand the reasons for regular stock checks

  • Learn the various stock checks used within the BCA Parts Departments weekly, monthly bi- annually

  • Understand the stock check reporting methods

  • Understand the obsolete stock Report



ISO/Health & Safety




  • Ensure all department ISO/Health and safety policies are followed

  • Understand the ISO and Health and safety rules and regulations within the parts department

  • Ensure site Health and Safety rules are followed

Skills Required :

  • IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) – A good understanding of these programmes is essential
