Job Description

Today’s apprentices have to demonstrate expertise in the technical side of the role. They must have strong problem solving skills along with a good knowledge of the theory and practical side of a vehicle’s systems.



They must understand how their workshop and the dealership functions from a commercial perspective, have good customer handling skills and identify ways in which they can work more efficiently.



The increasing technology of modern vehicles, and the pressure to deliver a high-quality customer experience, requires the automotive sector to attract and train high calibre individuals.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Under supervision, carry out work on vehicles in accordance with the manufacture’s procedures.

  • Ensure all work carried out is completed accurately and to the customer’s satisfaction.

  • To report, using the correct procedures, any additional work found during repair/inspection.

  • Accurately complete job cards and reports, including any written descriptions of faults found or repairs completed.

  • To comply with the company's working practices and procedures. Ensure all work is carried out observing safe working practices of self and others.

  • To undertake training as agreed by the manager/academy. Attend the Stoneacre academy as required in order to gain the relevant qualifications.

  • Ensure that own tools and tools of the company are kept clean and are maintained in a serviceable condition.


Personal Qualities :

  • Be interested in the way vehicles operate and the potential to research, analyse and solve problems; organised, methodical and pays attention to detail; able to work in a team and to communicate well both orally and in writing.



Skills Required :

  • To care about delivering excellent service – both internally and externally to colleagues and customers; able to demonstrate general analytical and mechanical skills.



Future Prospects :

  • To assist in the repairs, routine maintenance and diagnostic work on vehicles as per instructions or as directed by the Workshop Controller/Mentor.
