Job Description

Applicants should have a particular interest in working and building a career within an educational environment.



Daily responsibilities:




  • Under the instruction of senior staff, provide routine general, clerical, administrative and financial support to the nursery

  • To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children within the nursery

  • To undertake reception duties, answering the telephone, face-to-face enquiries and signing in visitors

  • To assist with first aid and welfare, liaising with parents, staff etc.

  • Assist with arrangement for visits by outside agencies

  • Provide routine clerical support e.g. photocopying, filing, faxing, e-mailing, complete routine forms

  • Maintain manual and computerised records/management information systems and creating reports

  • Undertake typing, word processing and other ICT based tasks

  • Sort and distribute mail

  • Undertake routine administration 


Personal Qualities :

  • An ability to be able to work as part of a team

  • Be enthusiastic



Skills Required :

  • Able to initiate and develop good working relationships with all members of the nursery community – children, families, staff and governors

  • Ability to be a welcoming “front face” of the nursery, have a friendly and approachable manner, presenting a professional image and contributing to a positive nursery ethos

  • Be able to follow instruction well and seek advice appropriately

  • Be able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team

  • To learn how to handle various situations, some difficult

  • Report to line manager

  • Be able to complete paperwork to a high standard

  • Punctuality and good time keeping as well as a willingness to undertake relevant training and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is crucial to this role

  • Good communication skills

  • Good organisation skills
