My client is a leading manufacturer and supplier of building material products based in Burton. They specialise is the manufacture of concrete products across 300 sites, employing in excess of 200 staff. Due to continued growth within the business, an opening for a 'Graduate Operations Management Trainee' / Graduate Mechanical Engineer has arisen.

Graduate Operations Management Trainee / Graduate Mechanical Engineer

Purpose:

  • The overall puprose of this position is to gain a full understanding of all aspects of the business with a long-term plan of developing into a management position (possibly in production, quality or maintenance).

Graduate Operations Management Trainee / Graduate Mechanical Engineer

Key Duties:

  • Obtain a full and thorough understanding of business operations.
  • Gain a full and thorough understanding around operational safety, quality, environmental and effectiveness.
  • Gain a detailed understanding of Company policies and procedures and how these are applied in practice.
  • Develop leadership skills by supervising the Operatives in the absence of the Production/ Maintenance Supervisors.
  • Ordering of materials and assisting with stock management.
  • Project coordination and undertake ad hoc projects as and when required.
  • Learn basic maintenance skills and undertake basic maintenance repair activities under supervisor of the Senior Fitters and Maintenance Manager.
  • Completing tasks accurately and within an agreed timeframe.
  • Complete end of module presentations in a timely manner to demonstrate acquired skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Understand and adhere to Company policies and procedures which are relevant to both the site and the working environment.
  • Adherence to Company Health & Safety working practices and legislative regulations.
  • Any other duties as deemed reasonable by your line manager.

  • Degree qualified (2:1) - ideally within Mechanical Engineering
  • Willingness to learn
