Job Description
An apprenticeship offering the successful candidate the opportunity to gain competency in precision engineering. This will include the use of CNC machines such as Mills and Lathes.
Whilst being trained within the workplace you will also be required to complete an Advanced Apprenticeship for Engineering Technicians: Machinists, supported by South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.
Learning will include:
- Health and Safety-be compliant with operating policies and wearing the correct protective clothing
- Interpreting engineering drawings and documents
- Milling
- Turning
- Bench fitting techniques
- Mechanical principles and applications of maths in engineering
- CAD/ CAM
- Mechanical measurement and inspection techniques
- Checking materials for suitability to manufacture
- Learn about machine settings for a variety of material grades and forms
- Maintenance schedules
- Check machine fluid levels
- Improve cycle times and handling by selecting the correct tooling to increase cutting speeds and feed rates
- Booking work time and machine time to specific jobs
