Job Description

This Traineeship work experience is part of an education and training programme that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core is the Work Preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high-quality work experience placement.



Traineeships help unlock your great potential and give you the work preparation training, maths, English, Digital Skills and work experience needed to get an Apprenticeship or other job.

Our eligibility Criteria




  • Are you aged 16 to 18 or 19 to 24 with a EHCP plan in place?

  • Are you currently NOT in a job? Do you have little or no Work Experience?

  • You have not achieved any AS level, A level or any level 3 qualifications

  • You are currently not studying or in education

  • Are you motivated and think you could be ready for employment or an apprenticeship within 6 months?

This Traineeship opportunity is a unpaid Work Experience placement as part of an entry to work course. An incentive of £40.00 per week is available based on 24 hour a week attendance (£20 if claiming benefits).

This will ultimately prepare you with the essential skills for paid employment opportunities within the Retail Industry.

This position offers valuable work experience opportunities which will help you to improve your skills and knowledge within a Retail environment.



Joining a team of passionate volunteers within our Clothing shops you’ll help to ensure the smooth running of our shop by assisting in a variety of different roles. You’ll help out on the shop floor by:




  • Providing friendly and professional customer service

  • Processing sales on the till

  • Replenishing displays and receiving donations

  • You’ll also assist in processing stock and work with the shop manager and other staff to represent the BHF in a professional manner, reflecting our core values and beliefs and ensuring a great customer experience



Over the work experience period you will work up to 24 hours a week over 7 days a week. Working hours will vary and may include some weekend work.



This will give you valuable knowledge which will prove essential when applying for a job.

Future Prospects :

After successful completion of the Traineeship course, you will receive a certificate of completion and reference as a minimum, to support future job applications. There may be opportunities for interview and progression into an Apprenticeship or Employment with training, or Further Education. If paid positions are available within BHF you will have the opportunity to apply for these positions.
