Job Description

Taylor Wimpey build over 15,000 homes a year and are now looking to grow their directly employed trade’s teams, so if you are looking for a career in Production then you’ll be joining a business with a passion for getting things right first time and exceeding customer expectations. Taylor Wimpey are looking for quality skilled trades people that really take pride in the work they do. As an apprentice bricklayer you will be involved with new build homes from start to finish. You will read drawings to understand what is required to enable a build. Set out the first row of bricks, ensuring the courses are straight and level. Learning about mortar, how to mix and apply to the bricks, shaping and trimming bricks. Know about the health and safety aspects involved with working at height and on site. Ensuring all work complies with the standards and procedures and that you abide by the safety rules.



 What you will do:




  • Measuring the work area and setting out the first row of bricks and the damp course

  • Mixing mortar

  • Laying bricks on top of each other and applying mortar with a trowel

  • Shaping and trimming bricks

  • Ensuring the work is level

  • You will be required to attend College as part of your apprenticeship commitment and complete all relevant coursework and exams

Skills Required :

  • Ability to travel to the designated site by your own means, either by car or public transport.

  • A strong understanding of health and safety

  • The ability to work as part of a team to reach plot completion milestones

  • Ability to solve problems with the use of various materials and methods

  • A strong pride in the job and a relentless dedication to quality in everything you do 

  • A willingness to learn and adapt skills to the role

  • English & maths GCSEs

  • Awareness of Safety Issues

  • Knowledge of Properties

  • CSCS Card
