Job Description

You will be working towards your L2 Business Admin apprenticeship by assisting in a range of duties relevant to your studies. Time and support will be set aside time to complete your learning. Full training will be provided on any necessary software packages, for example SIMs, ParentPay, CPOMs.



Duties include:




  • To be a warm, approachable point of contact for all parents and carers when they contact the school

  • To deal with all queries to the school office, to take and pass on accurate messages when queries cannot be dealt with

  • To provide general administrative support where necessary e.g. filing, faxing, photocopying, and minute taking at meetings as required

  • Process applications for any leave/special absence of children in liaison with the Headteacher and to ensure full records are kept and filed appropriately

  • To undertake general administrative duties that support the school to develop its links with parents and the wider community

  • To produce communications that ensure that parents are made fully aware of school news and events, e.g. letters home, newsletters

  • To maintain and regularly update the school’s website

  • To organise supply cover for teachers for planned and unplanned absence

  • To produce and update parent contact records and pupil information

  • To maintain daily records of attendance and punctuality and ensure ongoing monitoring of attendance for all children and groups of children across the school

  • To log pupil absence on CPOMs

  • To be responsible for contacting parent/carers of children who are absent from school

  • To ensure all absences are recorded on SIMS on a weekly basis

  • To manage school trips, including recording of permission slips and payments received

  • To monitor account balances for school meals, breakfast club and trips, and to issue parent reminder letters where necessary

  • To complete the necessary arrangements for new pupil admissions and leavers

Skills Required :

The candidate should have office experience and proficient in MS Word and Excel, and ideally Publisher and PowerPoint.



Future Prospects :

There is a possibility of a permanent position upon completion of apprenticeship.
