Job Description

The Military Preparation College has recently been voted as the UK's Best Training Provider and is also Graded as Grade 1 Outstanding by Ofsted. We have prepared and supported over 2,500 of your Learners to join the Armed Forces with over 10,000 of our Learners going into further education or employment.

Is it for me?

  • The Military Preparation College is designed for anyone between the ages of 16-23
  • Our courses are designed to increase vocational qualifications, employability skills and fitness.
  • Learners follow a weekly routine of activities and curriculum to improve personal qualities both mentally and physically.
  • Our unique curriculum will also support and increase your opportunities for a positive progression into employment or education if you don't go on to join the military.
  • Our course is roll on roll off and you can join at any time.
  • You can enrol on a full-time or part-time course so you can work alongside your education and training.

England

  • 98% of our candidates' progress onto positive progression.
  • (19 –23) If you are claiming job seekers or universal credit you will be eligible for the course and can gain City & Guilds Employability Skills, L2 award, certificate and extended certificate. Functional Skills (dependant on previous achievements).
  • (16-19) work towards either your G.C.S.E English and Maths or Functional Skills (dependant on previous achievements). City & Guilds L2 award certificate and diploma in Employability Skills.

Physical Training

  • Physical fitness is a huge part of the curriculum at the college, in fact, it’s 50%. Learners are taught how to look after themselves so they can stay healthy, look good, feel stronger and ultimately achieve fitness levels required to increase their quality of life and be ready to enter the Armed Forces. This is taught through a range of physical training activities, including
  • Running
  • Tug of war
  • Swimming
  • Battle PT
  • Gym work
  • Military style assault courses

Unique Curriculum

  • We use a coloured bib system to determine levels of fitness of individuals, so they are always working towards something achievable but are encouraged to develop to the next level. We have level 3 qualified personal trainers, the majority are military qualified personal trainers in all of our colleges and they will be able to advise and act as your personal training during your time with us.
  • You will be assessed on an individual level.
  • Given an individual learning plan.
  • Skills Tutors will also support you with your numeracy and literacy skills which will allow you to complete our course.
  • You will be supported to develop the skills necessary to embark on a rewarding career or continue with education and training.

Financial Support 16 - 19 yr olds ONLY

  • If you are eligible for the bursary, you will be entitled to claim any costs that pay for items relevant to the course – up to a maximum of £1,200 each year. For example, travel (between home and college) and any money spent on kit and equipment essential to complete the course. Each day you are in attendance and have a meal, you will receive £2.41 per day.
