Phillip Edwards has been in the hair industry for over 30 years and opened Philip Edwards Hairdressing situated on the busy Dover High Street 3 years ago. Phillip Edwards’ Hairdressing is a big vibrant salon with great reviews and a busy beauty salon situated at the back. Due to the salon being on a busy high street they attract lots of walk-ins which means you have to be prepared and flexible at all times. The beauty salon ‘Zen Beauty’ has been running for about a year now offers a variety of treatments for example: threading, waxing, eye treatments, massage and much more! You will also receive training in the use of Decleor products which involves a training course in London for 3 days.



With the company ever-growing they are now looking for someone to join their team and provide them with the environment and training to excel and become qualified in the art of beauty work.



Main duties as follows:




  • Reception work

  • Answering the phone

  • Booking clients

  • Meeting and greeting clients

  • Making refreshments

  • Shadowing therapists

  • Cleaning

  • Selling vouchers

  • Folding towels

The VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General is a substantial vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed beauty therapist. This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK's leading professional bodies (The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) and the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT)) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a junior beauty therapist.



Why is this qualification most suitable?



This is one of two VTCT qualifications in beauty therapy at Level 2. Whilst both qualifications qualify learners to become beauty specialists and gain employment at a junior level, this qualification requires learners to work in a commercial beauty salon, whereby assessments must be carried out on real paying clients in line with commercial service times.



The VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General is for learners seeking to work in and develop their skills in a commercial setting.



The Beauty apprenticeship is available at two levels and will lead to job roles such as junior therapist in a spa/salon or session make-up artist or junior salon receptionist.



Typical places of work are a beauty salon, hotel spas, and cruise ships.



On the intermediate level apprenticeship, you’ll provide a limited range of services to clients as well as assisting and supporting more senior therapist.



The on programme learning for this apprenticeship is mainly through the on the job experience within a salon environment, focused on gaining the knowledge and demonstrating the skills in several core areas.



20% off the job is required and is covered with theory delivery, shadowing, mentoring and coaching at our sites and in the workplace.



You’ll also study English and maths at a level to suit you. All beauty therapists will need to communicate effectively with clients, order stock, and calculate pricing.

Once fully qualified, Beauty Therapists in the UK earn on average £11,835 - £19,982 per year.
