Job Description

Do you want to carry out your Apprenticeship within a world class toolroom producing the best fantasy miniatures in the world?



Are you excited by working in an environment where you will be expected to continually challenge what you do and to improve it by using the right methods? Would using the latest Cad Software to design Injection Mould Tools appeal to you?



You will be trained in the use of Autodesk ToolMaker Software to carry out your role, as well as other comprehensive in-house training in Tool Making and off site training at Nottingham College on day release.



Main Responsibilities:




  • Learning Autodesk Powershape Ultimate software to the required standard through in-house training

  • Learning and develop skills using 3D CAD software to perform required tasks within the role

  • Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and processes while under the instruction of skilled technical staff

  • To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increasing overall contribution to the department

  • To undertake and successfully complete suitable college courses throughout the training period, achieving the academic grades and practical skills in order to entitle yearly progression leading to the award of a suitable qualification in mechanical engineering

  • Learning and understanding the importance of Health and safety within the workspace and the college

  • To develop the skills to construct or modify mould tools from verbal instructions and drawings, for production to a high degree of precision

  • Learn how to operate machinery to required specifications and while doing so in a safe manner

  • To maintain a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects that have been undertaken and the skills learned

  • To maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace and workshop areas

  • To maintain a smart appearance and to act in a professional manner at all times whether on or off the college campus

  • To perform any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the post holder

Ongoing training and development which will give the applicant the opportunity to move to an advanced apprenticeship and then a full time job if a role becomes available at the end of the apprenticeship. Details of career paths and options will be shared with each apprentice by their mentor.
