Job Description

Are you looking for an apprenticeship which gives you the opportunity to be part of a team which shapes and develops the places that we live and work in? If so, a Business Administration Apprenticeship based in the Telford-based Area Planning Team (APT) could be just what you are looking for.



The Area Planning Team are looking for someone who wants to learn all about Building Control.



Working in an innovative, fast paced team, you will be responsible for delivering excellent customer care to customers, supporting the Building Control Team with administration of Building Regulation applications and learning all about how Building Regulations work.



You will also be studying for an NVQ level 2 in Business Administration. So, if you are motivated person, with an interest in all things planning, and want the opportunity to work in a professional, friendly team, this apprenticeship could be what you are looking for.



Your key duties and responsibilities will include:




  • Taking responsibility for assisting in the provision of a Business and Planning First Point reception service, dealing with appointments, reception duties, and providing a high standard of customer care service which includes taking responsibility for accepting fees, issuing receipts, dealing with various enquiries, providing information to customers and dealing with correspondence for all departments based in Wellington Civic Offices

  • Dealing with customer enquiries by telephone, gathering information and providing advice on basic enquiries; taking messages and arranging appointments for officers

  • Providing clerical and administrative support as required for the service

  • Ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and security at all times in reception areas

  • Dealing with customer enquiries and complaints in a courteous and professional manner in accordance with the council’s customer complaints procedure

  • Using and maintaining general filing systems, both manual and computerised, to include setting up new files and retrieval as required

  • Co-ordinating the collection of departmental post and ensure that all outgoing mail is ready for daily collection

  • Supporting other staff/colleagues in the efficient running of the Business Unit

  • Taking responsibility for the coordination of department to historic notice decision issuing and maintaining the files

Skills Required :

  • Basic IT skills of Microsoft packages
