Job Description

This is a great opportunity to work in a medical practice and gain a business administration apprenticeship.



Your duties will include:




  • Managing patient requests in person, on the phone and via written communication

  • Booking, amending, rescheduling and cancelling patient appointments

  • Distributing prescriptions

  • Action patient care follow-up arrangements as per clinicians’ instructions

  • Advising patients of chargeable services and processing payments

  • Providing patients with information about the Practice Services

  • General housekeeping of reception and waiting areas

  • Arranging transport and home visits

  • Managing medical records recording patient contacts, attaching correspondence electronically and in hard copy and filing in correct order

  • Maintaining and updating the practice patient database

  • Ensuring confidentiality, a data protection is observed at all times

Future Prospects :

  • Once a candidate has completed this role they will be employable in any doctor’s surgery across the country. They will become fully familiar with the workings of a General Practice surgery and will have an extremely useful working knowledge of the NHS and how GP’s and their surgeries work within it.  The NHS is changing at a rapid rate and GP surgeries are part of that change.  IT is becoming more and more important to the day to day running of a surgery.  Almost every facet of the processes within a GP practice now rely on an IT application and or web site to exist.  This is both an interesting and challenging time to be part of an organisation allied to the NHS
