Job Description

Women in Banking Insight Week – Commercial Banking, Lloyds Banking Group

Monday 8th – Friday 12th April 2019

10 Gresham Street, London, EC2V 7AE, United Kingdom

Application process open to undergraduates in the first year of their university degree

Following three successful years, Lloyds Bank is delighted to host its 2019 Women in Banking Insight Week, providing up to 24 successful undergraduates the opportunity to join us at our London offices, for an insight into our Commercial Banking Division. This is your chance to learn more about Commercial Banking and to get great CV experience.

The week will focus on learning about two areas of Commercial Banking:

Client Relationship Management – the teams that manage Lloyds’ corporate relationships with global business customers and financial institutions

Markets – the teams that help clients manage risk in the financial markets, support their financial needs through loan and bond finance, and manage deposits.

It's the perfect opportunity for those who want to understand more about Commercial Banking and the range of career opportunities within Lloyds Banking Group (including our summer Internships and Graduate Programmes).

You don’t need to be studying Maths or Economics to join us - our Internship and Graduate Programmes are open to any degree background - and so is this event. ‘Diversity of thought’ is far more important to us than the subject in which you have specialised because we can teach the relevant technical skills.

During the week you will:

• Spend 5 full days gaining exposure to the Commercial Banking Division and learning about the business
• Spend time on the trading floor at Lloyds Bank
• Shadow current graduates
• Practice an assessment centre exercise
• Hear from several of our senior leaders about their careers
• Network with Lloyds Banking Group colleagues

We will provide an expense allowance and accomodation if required for students based outside of London.

Why does Lloyds Banking Group run a Women in Banking Insight Week?

Lloyds Banking Group is committed to supporting both male and female colleagues at all levels of the organisation. We know that diversity can make a material difference to the success of our business, from the way we make decisions, to how collaboratively we work. However we also recognise that women remain under-represented at senior levels within the financial services industry, and that often women can be put off pursuing a career in what they perceive as a male-dominated environment. We believe that acting to change this situation is not only the right thing to do but a business imperative.

We’ve made great progress to date, but women still remain under-represented at our senior management grades. We’ve demonstrated our commitment to change this publicly - as part of our Helping Britain Prosper Plan – aiming to have 40% of senior roles held by women in 2020. While the roles might be senior, we understand that developing our entry level talent is critical, due to the fact many of our graduates go on to fulfil senior positions. Ultimately, we want to inspire more women at university to envision a great future for themselves within financial services.

Application process:

Application form

We will ask you to complete a short application form about yourself which will include answering the following questions using up to 100 words:

‘What appeals to you about Lloyds Banking Group as a place to start your career?’

‘What do you perceive to be the main challenges and opportunities of working in Commercial Banking and why do these appeal to you?’

Online tests

Once you’ve completed the form, you will be invited to complete a series of online tests. These include numerical and critical reasoning tests as well as a ‘situational strengths’ test that looks at your natural strengths.

Telephone interview

If you’re successful through the tests, we will arrange to have a short telephone interview with you and following this will be able to confirm whether you’re successful in securing a place.

The deadline for applications is 31st January 2019 (Lloyds Banking Group reserves the right to close the site for new applications without notice.

Applications will be reviewed on a first come first served basis and once all places have been filled the site will be closed to new applicants. Please apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
