On an average day, we sort 58 million items. Getting each item where it needs to be is a complex, logistical challenge – one that we need our engineers to help solve. We won't achieve our ambitious goal to be the best delivery company across Europe without the latest technology and thinking - which our engineers provide.

About the programme

On our advanced engineering apprenticeship, you'll get to grips with the cutting-edge technology needed to deliver a first-class service – covering everything from robotics to intelligent sorting machines. On top of a unique foundation for understanding all of the technology involved in delivery, you'll learn how a FTSE-100 organisation uses it to improve its business.

You’ll spend your first year in Blackburn, working and learning alongside other engineering apprentices and getting under the skin of how things work here. You'll learn how to fix, maintain and review all of our technology and get trained by senior colleagues who have seen it all. On top of your on-the-job experience you'll work towards an Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard that is recognised across the industry and will help you build your career here. Further opportunities to continue onto higher level apprenticeships are available e.g. HNC, Degree and MSc programmes.

Who we're looking for

If you’re interested in how things work, have a logical way of working and want to learn and develop in a hands-on role, this scheme is for you. You don't need to be an expert engineer before you come as we will support you all the way.

What you do need is a natural curiosity and a strong work ethic. We're looking for people who can work well as part of a team and are driven to find the answers to problems. On top of that you'll need to be a strong communicator and have five GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science at grade C or higher.
