St.Andrew's College is an independent sixth form college in Cambridge with 6 of its own halls of residence for its international students.

Job description

Duties of the duty supervisor

  • To acknowledge receipt of Whatsapp messages from house manager going out within 15 minutes of receipt.

  • To visit each hall that is without a house manager for more than an hour, once every hour.

  • During the visit, the supervisor should check the common room, check the signing in and out book to see which under 18s are in and knock to check they are OK. This means that there should be a list next to the signing in book which states which students are under 18 and which rooms they are in.

  • Record the time of their visit at each hall, together with any relevant comments that can be useful for the returning house manager.

  • Provide students with any assistance they require.

  • If a student requires first aid or medical assistance, to accompany that student to hospital.

  • To follow fire safety and evacuation procedures if required.

Duties of standby supervisor

  • Can remain at home/ in the locality until required.

  • Can be called upon to carry out the same duties as the duty supervisor if a) many house managers are out at the same time, making it difficult to visit each often enough or b) the duty supervisor is required to dedicate him/herself to events at one hall eg. Student illness, fire, other incidents.


The role is term time only but we have other job opportunities in the summer for those who want them.

Qualifications

  • We are looking for responsible and reliable people who have an interest in our students' welfare. First aid, fire marshal and safeguarding training will be provided.
  • If successful, you must have permission to work in the UK by the start of your employment
  • You must be able to speak English fluently
  • You must be currently living within a commutable distance of this vacancy
