Plumbing Technicians plan, select, install, service, commission and maintain all aspects of plumbing and heating systems. Plumbing Technicians can find themselves working inside or outside in different locations on building sites.



Responsibilities

  • install plumbing services to ensure the operation of all the water systems on site. This includes hot and cold water supplies and drainage

  • work indoors and outdoors and be prepared to sometimes work at height

  • (within limits) Work with little or no supervision; relying on your own initiative

  • be prepared to travel away from home

  • develop good working relationships with people

  • read both building and engineering drawings

  • select (within limits) materials and equipment

  • test and Commission Plumbing and Heating installations

  • carry out all work in an environmentally friendly manner inclusive of the recycling of waste materials

  • you are responsible for ensuring a tidy and safe work area

  • attend H+S training inclusive of toolbox talks as required.

  • attend further education training and keep up to date with course requirements

  • accept responsibility for the work of themselves and others

  • work effectively with colleagues, other trades, clients, suppliers and the public



Skills Required :

  • exercise responsibilities in an ethical manner



Future Prospects :

On completion of the apprenticeship the successful applicant will be supported to develop their career within the industry further.
