Job Description
The East Wight Woodland Apprentices will help on the practical delivery of the Trust’s Woodland Apprentices Project funded by the Down to the Coast initiative.
Overseen by the East Wight Woodlands Assistant the role will provide practical experience, training and an accredited environmental qualification and apprenticeship with Sparsholt College.
The apprenticeships will focus on the management of neglected woodland in the East Wight working in conjunction with private landowners, Forestry Commission and other conservation organisations.

The apprenticeship is a temporary position, 35 hours a week lasting up to 18 months.

- Confident in working in and around water, livestock and willing to handle protected species under supervision

Skills Required :
- Some experience of undertaking practical conservation tasks or working as a volunteers
- A good practical aptitude
- An ability to use basic hand tools in a safe and effective way
- Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work closely within a small but very busy team, but also use own initiative
- Knowledgeable of principals and issues affecting the environment, habitat management and species conservation
