Job Description

A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core are work preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high quality work experience placement.



The work experience will be undertaken with Crossbar Coaching Ltd.



Tasks include but are not limited to:




  • To shadow and assist in the delivery of sports instruction to primary school children

  • To ensure sustainability of activity and increase the quality of PE and School Sport. To encourage students/players to participate

  • To understand Risk Assessments and ensure that reasonable steps have been taken to protect participants at all times

  • To immediately report all accidents or injuries to the Coach in charge or teacher and complete report forms as required

  • To assemble and dismantle equipment when required and to check the safety of all equipment and ensure it is used in a safe and proper manner

  • At the end of each activity, ensure that all equipment is stored correctly and the work area is left in a clean and tidy manner

  • To ensure that safe practices are followed and Crossbar Coaching’s Child Protection Policy is adhered to

  • To assist and support teachers in delivering high quality coaching

  • Self-motivation and personal drive to complete tasks to required timescales and quality standards

  • Tact and diplomacy in all interpersonal relationships with the public and colleagues at work

  • Personal commitment to continuous self-development & service improvement

  • Trainee will ensure that his personal appearance is tidy and acceptable, including clean trainers

  • To wear any sports kit that Crossbar Coaching may provide

  • Willing to comply with Crossbar Coaching policies and codes of practice



Skills Required :

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Reliable with strong time management.

  • Confident communicator.

  • Self-motivated and have a passion for teaching/coaching children.



Future Prospects :

After successful completion of the Traineeship course, you will have gained vital work experience in the field of sports coaching, you will receive a certificate for your qualifications, an exit interview and a letter of reference upon request to support future job applications. For all successful learners there is the opportunity to progress on to an Apprenticeship with Active Apprentice and the host employers.
