Job Description

To achieve the industry standard Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals you can follow an Apprenticeship scheme. An Apprenticeship is open to anyone aged over 16 years employed for 30 hours or more in a salon environment. Learners aged 16-18 years are guaranteed full funding. When a learner is over the age of 19 an employer contribution is required by the government.



Delivery methods are flexible including in-salon, weekly/fortnightly or evening classes.



If you are not eligible for a government funded Apprenticeship it is still possible to achieve your Diploma through private funding. Please contact us for details.



Main duties and responsibilities will include:




  • Reception duties including booking appointments

  • Greeting clients and making drinks

  • Maintaining client records

  • Undertaking client consultations

  • Shampooing

  • Blow-drying and setting

  • Styling and finishing

  • Cleaning and stock taking

  • Recommending retail products


Personal Qualities :

  • Positive attitude towards hard work.

  • Friendly and enthusiastic.

  • Willingness to take on any task required.



Skills Required :

  • No previous hairdressing skills required.

  • Good customer service.

  • Ability to learn.

  • Good people/communication skills.



Future Prospects :

The placement supports your Hair Professional training, at the end of which you will be qualified to Level 2 with the prospect of continuing onto your Level 3, after which you will be a fully qualified hairdresser. The Level 3 enables you to gain employment within the hair industry and is recognised by salons as evidence of your skills and ability as a hairdresser. There are many more training opportunities within the hair industry which you can tailor to meet your career ambitions. Many stylists continue to train to continuously develop and improve their skills, some focusing on specific paths such as colouring, or training other apprentices.
