LAL Language Centres was set up in Torbay in 1980, and offers language courses with leisure programmes for adults and young learners around the world. The LAL group of schools is owned by a large German tour operator, FTI. We have schools for adults in Boston, London, Torbay, Florida, Cape Town, Malta and Gozo. We also run residential summer schools in the UK, USA and Malta.

Our mission is to empower people to communicate effectively with the global community by means of an excellent and enriching learning experience. English lessons are at the heart of our business, and we have enormous experience in teaching English as a foreign language. Our teachers are skilled at tailoring our lessons to make them engaging and dynamic while meeting the needs of each student.

LAL is present in 6 english native-speaking countries with schools in 17 different cities. LAL stands for ‘Language And Leisure’, which emphasises our belief that students should get out of the classroom and enjoy themselves while practising their new language skills. Our activity programme for Young Learners is fully supervised by a large team of Activity Assistants and provides our students with a mix of compulsory and optional activities every week. Adults are offered a wide range of excursions and tours, ranging from visits to local beauty spots to trips to cities further afield. We have our own minibuses and employ driver-guides to help our students get the most out of their visit.

LAL Language Centres are all fully accredited by a recognised body in each location. LAL regularly achieves merits of excellence across a range of criteria for its English language programmes and ancillary services to students.
